Default CA emissions....Different Cat???

I have to get a new cat and i cant seem to find one. Everywhere i look online or at the exhaust shops all say the CA cat cost about 700-1000 dollars. A new OEM one cost 1300.... I don't understand there has to be people on here from CA that are running high flow cats from car sound or some similar company that have passed smog no problem. Please let me in on this info , is our exhaust just shaped different so companies don't make a direct replacement??? How much different can it be from a non ca emissions accord??

Anyways i am not going to be getting one for a while i have other stuff to take care of and i don't need a smog just yet. Most of my searching has been online though, im sure i could find some hole in the wall place to weld on a cat but i would prefer direct fit. I was just wondering what the deal with this was.
