Transmission codes
Hello all, I'm fairly new to this Honda scene and recently acquired an LS-VTEC with trani and wanted to know if there's a code reference guide somewhere on this site to determine what kind I have. thanks

It's the same as your ECU code.
The ECU for a D16Z6 (5th gen Si/EX) is a P28.
The tranny for this motor is also a P28.
Follows accordingly.

It came with a Chrome race ECU. Is there a code stamped somewhere on the trans that would give me this info, or do I assume it's an LS trans since it's an LS-VTEC (B16 head with B18B block). Thanks again.

I am pretty sure it is stamped on the trans.
They say assumption is the mother of all expletive-ups.
State your RPM at like, 80mph.
Somebody could tell you based on the gearing ratios.
Just bring it to a certain MPH (above 30) and analyze the RPM, somebody could help you from there. If not, I'll come back and tell ya what tranny it is
. I have to leave now. Go test drive your car and tell me what the RPM are at a certain MPH.

you get a TON of misinformation...
The tranny is probably an S80 or Y80
The problem in that is both LS and GSR transmissions use that stamping - the only way to tell is what rpm you are in @ certain mph....or by opening it up and counting teeth on gears/look of the diff
That will determine your final drive and gearing.
It could be b16/itr (but I dont know the codes for those)

00 si trannies are s4c, integra transmissions are almost all stamped the same, s/y-80
itr trannies and si trannies share the same gear ratio's, only the itr has a limited slip diff. my itr tranny tachs about 4.5k at 80 mph, i think gsr's are closer to 4k, not sure what ls's are. hope that helps
