Default Spoon Sports Race Header

hello everyone.

i have a 2002 civic EX coupe with a manual tranny and was browsing ebay and ran across a Spoon Sports race header for the civic EX.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW

NOW, i know that the header is 99% probably going to be a knockoff since Spoon Sports would never put the time and effort to develop anything for the D17 motor, nor will they sell any of their products (certainly not a race header) for so cheap.

my question is, has anyone brought this header specifically for their civic?

my greatest concern, other than the fact that the header will not yeild any gains, is that it will not fit my car. the header in the pictures looks very similar to the HP Racing header, which if anyone of you guys know, will NOT fit a civic EX with manual tranny without shaving the motor mounts.

ALSO, since a race header obviously gets rid of the stock cataylic converter, will i have any problems when emissions comes around? i live in IL if that helps any. to my understanding (at least in my state), emissions only checks if the ecu is throwing any codes or check engine lights. if the ecu isnt throwing any codes, than you pass emissions.

sorry for the long post, but i just wanted to get my concerns across.
thanks for any replies!

i have the header on my civic

i like it a little it made the exhaust sound alittle deeper but nothing huge..

DO NOT GET the downpipe and resonator, you will regret it. i have it and it made my car sound like complete ****. I took it off and threw it away plus the insides of them break apart and rattle

i'm just looking to make a little more power since a K20 swap is just too expensive. i guess i wont get this header after all.

does anyone know if theres any way possible of fitting in the HP Race header without shaving the motor mount?

my younger cousin jsut got the HP race header installed on his civic ex with manual tranny without modifying anything and how his car rattles like crazy at neutral; the downpipe portion is rubbing against the front motor mount.

A lot of cars have to do this, i had to do it on my CRX when i threw my b18a in. It all comes down to judgement, just dont cut to much.

would there be any downsides to shaving part of the subframe/motor mount? for example, will the two other motor mounts wear out faster because more stressed is put upon them?

if i remember correctly, there was a member on another site (7thgencivic) who did this and it eventually completely destroyed the shaved motor mount.

just trying to be safe than sorry.

Ooo, i didnt know u actually had to shave the motor mount itself... I wouldnt shave a mount ever, i thought it was just the subframe/cross member. If someone has had it ruin there mount, i would just leave it alone.

Anyway, a header wont get u many HP's regardless, and it is in no way worth it to get shave ur mount just to get the extra 1-2 whp.
