Center Console Removal
Step 1. Remove the shift ****. Rotate the silver piece that attaches the boot to the **** until the boot is free, then rotate the shift **** counter-clockwise to remove it.
Step 2. See the piece of plastic surrounding the E-Brake handle, with the sliding door pocket? You're going to need to remove it. It will be extremely tricky, if it's never been removed before, since the style clips are very hard to all removal. It WILL come off, though, so don't get discouraged. Mine took a TON of elbow grease, if you know what I mean.
Step 3. There will be 2 screws near where the small pocket behind the shifter used to sit, that need removal. They're a small Phillips style screw.
Step 4. There are two screws on the console, in the bottom section on the sides, near the rear seats. They're also small Phillips style screws.
Step 5. There are 2 pop-clips in the front of the console, near the feet areas, that need removal. I've found that reaching around the back of the plastic, to push the center portion out of the pop-caps, to be the easiest way of removal. The pop-caps are simple to remove that way. If you have huge fingers (which I do to), sometimes a small screwdriver tip is needed to help push the center portion of the pop-caps out, but they'll come out fairly easily.
Hope that helps, and best of luck.

Thanks matt, I hope this does help me out. Last night, did some stupid racing and miss'd a gear. I'm hearing this knocking sound when i'm in 1st, 3rd and sometimes 5th. Kinda slamm'd it hard and I'm thinking $$$ of damage I've done! But my gears are okay when I shift. I just got to find out what that sound is....
Appreciate the write up

sounds like u will have to drop the tranny. its quite a bit of work, i dont really know what needs to be disconnected on these cars to make it work, i know on my old CRX, to get the tranny out i had to undo a lot of crap.
regardless, if u really want to find out that badly, jack up the car and see what needs to be taken out.

That's a short throw kit install. What does that have to do with console removal?

thanks for the help matt! I should of tooken a picture but I stop the knocking sound. I had to shave a little off inside the where the boot is, towards the cup holder are & it came out good! Put a little more washers & cotter keys to get a better firm shift & i'm happy with my results. Thank god I have no tranny problems.
If anybody haves a picture of inside the Center Console looks like. I can explain alot better what I had to shave off
thanks bro
