new guy here, need some help on getting rear glass out

Default new guy here, need some help on getting rear glass out

hello, i'm a trial user, i was given a 1989 prelude si and it needs a new rear glass, i found one really cheap but don't have a clue on how to get it out, the place that has it told me if i break it i bought it and they want way too much for them to remove it so my question is, How do i get the rear glass out ???

try using the serach button. I presonaly don't know how to do it.

I believe that there's a special process where you stick cutting wire between the glass and the opening, you slide the wire along to cut the seal....I've never seen an amateur do this themselves.

Actually you can use piano or guitar string and a needle. Its not really that hard to get out. Much harder to put in IMO.

I'm having a hard time understanding your situation. You already have the glass right? How does that "if you break it you bought it" figure in or the shop at all?

Anyway for the front there is a molding around the window you have to take off. Then you have to use like a razor blade or something and cut right beneath the glass as it it glued in strong with expoy. Just get in there and get hands on man, it shouldn't be too hard.

He is prolly getting the glass at a Salvage yard (he can get it cheaper if he pulls it himself), but if he breaks it trying to get it out he still has to buy it.

I havent a clue. Maybe you can call a shop that does auto glass replacement and ask them. Maybe they will even do it for cheap since you already have the glass.

yeah, i was getting it at a salvage yard but found a friend of a friend who is a glass tech and he's going to get me one at his cost and put it in free, thanks for the help........

Good luck. Hey, if you can, can you weigh the stock glass. Just trying to get an idea on how much oem glass weighs.
