I know this is for a bseries but will the same part numbers work for any h series ?

So when u buy a rebuilt starter this is all they really do internally ?

Just buy a new one from advanced that comes with a lifetime warranty.

+1 why monkey with it when it can be a simple unbolt, bolt back on, tension and such then your ready. Self refurbishing things is asking for trouble later imo unless you are good.

I have been told its very easy pretty much replacing brushes and some other parts that i have done before on electric motors.

I just rebuilt mine (well I actually changed parts over from a similar starter). The prelude starter look nothing like that one!

I basically just opened it up and changed the parts and gave it a good clean. After that my starter worked great!

Its not a matter of doing it really I just dont know where im going to find exact parts that will work correctly.

A trick to get the old contacts off the bolts is to stick a 12MM socket over the bolt head, put the end of the bolt against a table and give it a light tap with a hammer. The contact should seperate. Put the new contact on and put the socket over the other and and tap to secure it in place.

Anyway, an easy way to tell if your contacts are bad is if you turn your key and nothing will happen, but if you keep trying it will eventually start up. Happens more often in the cold. Anyway, be happy B/H series starters are easier to remove then on a 4Runner
