NEVER ENDING HEAT ISSUE I SEARCHED
I have tried everything and every suggestion. It wont stop over heating.
Specs: 93 hatch with jdm d15b vtec motor.
I went through 3 thermo stats. One napa, one checker, and honda oem. NONE worked. The one that came with the swap worked for about a year with the temp rising a bit only to fall if i got on it a LITTLE bit. Not hard at all just down shifted and let it ride in gear it would drop and be good for a while.
New radiator and cap. Those appear to be in fine shape. No leaks any where. Absolutely NO AIR in the system. I have bled it thouroghly to where there are zero bubbles coming out. I did a head gasket cause all was fine,(if you consider the down shift to be stable temp.) until it started to push bubbles and coolant back into the reservoir (overflow) when i would turn the car off. I researched that this was exhaust gas escaping into the coolant system from a faulty gasket. Replaced the gasket with honda oem and seemed ok for a day. Also flush filled radiator and oil change new spark plugs for good measure. Today she heated up non stop. If i down shift to third and keep it going it will drop a bit and hold but i can only go like 30mph and thats obviously not the solution. I am out of answers and cant figure this bitch out. The fan doesnt come on properly and i have gone through two thermo switches and its not the relay. If i hot wire the fan it does work but runs too cold. I have not tried that since the recent overheating but i dont see why it would help cause it occurs when i am moving in the 20 degree weather which would simulate the fan on its best day........ HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Does it sound like the thermostat was weak and opened under pressure only to be stuck now??? Why wouldnt the other 3 work??

i thought that too! I manually cranked the pistons when the head was off and FROM WHAT I COULD SEE... They looked immaculate. NO scoring or cracking of ANY kind...
bumpiddy bump for the minds of the honda masters.... I know one of you knows something!! I have been ghosting on this site for 3 years now i am in dire need of the supreme knowledge.
that is my next step. Really the last step. Yet i NEVER let it go up past about the middle on the temp gauge... So i it never got super hot for an extended period of time. But yea... I have a friend putting a B series in his 95 ex so i may just snag his head off that. I will keep everyone posted but any other suggestions?? Thanks slow guy.
make sure you have enough radiator fluid, i had a similar problem and i couldn't even find a leak in my radiator, just fill your radiator and overflow tank,

just cuz your gauge says its overheating doesn't mean it actually is overheating!
theres 2 thermal switches 1 for the gauge(under the distributor) and 1 for the fans(thermal stat housing).theres also a cool trick that the dearships do to figure out problems like this. first try to get a hold of an old honda cv boot! with the engine off, take the radiator cap off and insert the narrow part into the radiator fill it halfway with coolant then start the engine and wait for the fans to kick in about twice.since you mentioned that you live in 20 degree weather it might take a while so you might want to hold it a 2500.if your engines IS overheating you will see it boil at the cv boot.
hope this helps
