Default tire guru calling you out

This spring I will finally be purchasing some sticky tires! At first I was convinced from reading this forum to get the SPT's. But I am a big fan of Bridgestone Potenzas. So which brings me to the conclusion of getting the Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position in a tire size of 205/50/16. Feedback is much appreciated, possibly comparing the SPT to the Pole Position.

I believe S03's are beginning to be discontinued. Consider the newer Potenzas, the re050A. those are pretty stick from what i gather

If money is no object get the Goodyear F1GS-D3 or Michelin Pilot PS2.

Yes, the S-03 has been discontinued. Which is too bad, because if you get them (like on closeout at the Tire Rack, currently $90 in 205/50-16, which is a good deal) and you find that one of them gets damaged, you won't be able to replace it with another one, and then you're driving around on mismatched tires. But at that price, it's worth considering.

The S-03 is pretty similar to the Goodyear F1 GS-D3, which is another excellent all-around tire, with great dry traction, great wet traction, and pretty good treadlife (25-35K miles). You can get the Goodyear in that size for $114 at the Tire Rack. They're both very good tires.

The Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 is a very good tire also, but it's not any better than the F1 GS-D3, it's usually significantly more expensive than the F1 GS-D3, and it's not available in that size.

Comparing the SPT with the F1 GS-D3, the SPT is a lot less expensive ($70), the F1 GS-D3 has much better performance on dry pavement, both are excellent in the rain, and both offer very good treadlife.
