Ok, this may sounds stupid but I just want to make sure. I have a 99 GS with 157K miles on it. Should I change the axles on the car? I remember my 89 accord with 199K axle went out on me. Can an axle fall apart while driving or broke off? Scary **** whenever I think about stuff like this but I just want to make sure.

Fall apart? No likely....break, yes....but not likely on stock hp. Just get them rebooted and regreased and you'll be fine.

 

i would just check them for leaks (tears in the boot/grease all over) and check to see if cv joints are clicking. if none of the above then your axles are still good

ya. no reason to be paranoid about them unless your experiencing these symptoms.

 

My Cv joints click when i turn hard to the right or the left so that means my axles are going right and i also see a little leak coming from right under the
