What is the difference between Main And Head Studs? I need studs for my valve cover because one snapped and two others won't completely tighten, just keep on turning. What studs do I exactly need?

 

headstuds go into the deck of the block and hold the head down. main studs go in the bottom of the block and hold the main caps down.

 

So what do I need to bolt down my valve cover? If I was to go onto a website and they have different stud options what exactly is the part called for my valve cover stud? Or is it just called Valve Cover Stud? -From the completely confused human

 

Do you need the bolt itself or just the nut?

 

Look under cylinder head and cylinder head cover for the studs. The part will vary if you have a LS or GSR, but you should be able to get it from here since they have pretty little diagrams. If you dont....take it to a shop.
