Default 450cc injectors in obd0 11.5:1 comp b16

hey yall,

i have an obd0 b16 with 11.5:1 compression. i have cams, intake, blah, blah, so forth and so on. i am running a vafc right now. i was given a set of 450cc injectors, if i install them and use the vafc to lessen the fuel will it affect my timing? i was told that if i install them and go on the negative side of the vafc map it will advance my timing and if i go to the positive side it will retard the timing, can someone confirm any of this for me? why 450s? cause they were pretty much free. lemme know/.

It's true. The ECU will add timing if you take out fuel with the VAFC. It fools the ECU into running on a different column on the fuel and ignition tables by altering the MAP sensor signal.

1st, why do you want to replace your stock injectors with 450's for a mild build b16a? Your stock injectors will support up to 190 whp. Those injectors would be for ~240 to 250 whp motor.

2nd, why would you want to use a vafc to control fuel? As b19 stated, it fools the ecu. This is a hack that is only good for very minor corrections. You will have nearly double fuel output. You can use 450's but you will need tuning to take fuel out of engine for it to run right.

Just stay stock, unless you planning on dyno tuning. 390s are still too big and will just load your motor up with fuel.

As a side note, if you really want to enjoy those upgrades, get it tuned. You'll make more power and get better gas mileage. You're about an 1hr away from Raleigh, go see JDogg at Phantasm. He can tune OBD-0.

Stay with the 240's. Very similar build as mine. You will be fine and it's easier to tune.
