Default Smoke from under hood (Built/Boosted LS/VTEC)

Ok, I have searched, but am unsatisfied with results.

I am new to FI, so cut me a little slack if this is a dumb question. I am running the following setup:

-B18b block w/ B16 head
-Eagle Rods
-CP Pistions (10:1)
-t3 turbo (don't ask me any other measurements)
-External tial WG w/ open dumptube
-Other mods available upon request

Car runs great. I have not done a compression test yet. I do have an open PCV and dump tube.

After a race (1/4 drag), whitish/greyish smoke comes from under the hood. I can't pinpoint exactly from where (because it's always at night). No smoke from exhaust. No smoke

Is this normal for my setup? It stops after a couple minutes, and the car still runs fine.

Whitish smoke is coolant

Bluish smoke is oil.

What FMU do you have and was it tuned?

In the day time if you pop the hood, revved the engine do you see anything coming from the valve cover breather nipple??

I have a chipped p28 tuned on chrome.

I haven't revved in daytime with the hood popped. Will try.

Be specific about when? do you mean when the car sits or as you drive right after full throttle?

When you open the hood what do you smell, antifreeze, fuel, oil ????

Do you see any stains, usually antifreeze leaves a whitish residue (depending on the antifreeze), but it is quite pronounced. Check the mani and dp for oil landing on them?

Look around your engine and smell. Look between the intake pipe right above where the tranny and block meet under the throttle body as there are many little small coolant hoses through there which often wear. I had one brake in the middle of a traffic jam and caused alot of smoke and the car to get hot. Easy fix. good luck

yeah you may want to do it during daylight unless you have some good lights.

Check the play on the turbo also.

also make sure any painted surfaces aren't burning.
i had my manifold painted, and when i saw alot of smoke, i thought my engine was toast.
it was the paint burning off lol

It smokes after racing at idle. It sorta smells like oil.

I haven't had a chance to look in the daytime so I can't see any stains or anything.

Car does not overheat whatsoever.

No shaft play at all.

No burning painted surfaces.

Boost it a few time during the day and then pull out the dipstick

try to troubleshoot during daytime then.. too many variables. coolant can smoke, leaking return line hitting other parts after a run can produce slight smoke, anything with fluid on it and touching hot parts in process of engine rocking back forth will produce smoke. first, see if you got smoke from valve cover, there should never be smoke out the valve cover, or should be minimal under wot.

My car did the same thing at first but only got worse, my smoke was coming from the valve stem breather though, at first it started on the dyno, and then got worse and worse.

Ended up cracking #3 piston's ring-landing pretty good, followed by hairline cracks in most of the other pistons.

If the smoke gets worse then i would start to worry, but doing some tests should yeild what you are looking for.
