I need to get a new flywheel insert for my CM flywheel. CM gave me a quot of $104. Does any one know where I can get one cheeper?
Also, I found some inserts for a Fidanza flywheel for around $50. Will Fidanza flywheel insert fit on the CM flywheel?

 

The Fidanza and Clutch Masters flywheels are the same. Any CM or Fidanza dealer should be able to get the friction surface for you.

That's cool. I'm gonna get the Fidanza flywheel insert then, but if anyone has tried it and it doesn't fit, please let me know other wise, I am going to pick one up.

Yes, you should definitely double-check (perhaps give Fidanza a call). All of the information I've seen states that the two are identical except for the colour, but there may be subtle differences that could affect the fitment of the friction surface.

I know there has to be somebody out there that has a CM flywheel that's ran into this question. I did a search but didn't find a definite yes or no, or a good price.

I am understanding this as when the flywheel surface and starter ring gear are made of different material and the gear is pressed onto the outer surface of the friction surface. I think the friction surface in this case is aluminum with a steel gear.

But then again maybe this is sumthing else

Not exactly, but you have the right idea.

The flywheel is machined from aluminium, and the starter ring is indeed steel. However, the "friction surface" is the replaceable section on the aluminium that contacts the clutch, and is constructed from steel.

 

Anyone else with cm flywheel?

im looking right now for that very same info..
i have heard in the past that they were the same hoevery when i had both flywheels i never verified that and now i need inserts for the CM fly. i might just order the fidenza and take the risk and see
