Default What reasons to not get an Si?

I've been considering the new civics and I keep thinking to myself that I might as well get the Si because it has everything I, and maybe anyone, would want (drivetrain, accessories, etc.). But of course, they are most costly than the other models.

So I was wondering, for the people that bought a non-Si, what are the reasons why? I'm mainly guessing cost issues, but I'm wondering if the R18 motor may have potential.

Another thing that's leading me towards a non-Si is that they come in Royal Blue Pearl, a color that the Si doesn't come in. Other than that, I'm trying to weigh the options.

cost, availability at the time of purchase, and probabaly most of all don't need all the bells and whistles of an Si, just something to dd and get good gas mileage.

Markup, live in a high crime area, bad driving record ie high insurance, need an awd or "big car", cant drive stick, too cheap for premium gas.

nothing really crazy though

If you WANT an Si then get it, but if you DON'T want/NEED the added stuff then get a lower trim model.

sorry, i figured i would pay an extra 2 grand and have a much nicer interior, whole lot more power, lsd, spoiler, rims, etc. like previously stated if u dont want/need all of that then get an ex or even an lx. but if u want some get up and go with premium gas prices, and insurance prices to boot, then go with the si. test drive em both a few times and see which one u prefer. its all a matter of opinion though. go with what is gonna be best for u in the long run

To me, the k20 is going to have alot more potential than the R18. Although they have released a turbo for the R18 now. May as well buy the Si if you are just going to add turbo though.

Don't forget about the handling superiority.......

True. This whole turbo R18 vs. stock Si has been discussed several times and most people agree that the Si is usually the best way to go because it already has a superior suspension setup to handle the added power and the turbo R18 will barely get you faster than a stock Si if that.

i got the SI because my husband would have killed me if i had tried to get a lower trim.

no, seriously though... i wasn't sold on the SI when i first looked at it. lookswise it didn't impress me much more than the regular 4 door civic. when i drove it i was in love though.

Get the Si if you want a good handling and a little more pwer with a high winding motor.

Dont get it if your not looking for power at all and you dont want a car you have to keep your eye on and that guzzles gas and takes premium

My mom bought me the EX but i see no reasons why to not get the SI in my case. But Insurance might be an issue and some people don't need perfomance, they just need a car.

Same with me. I originally went looking for an EX model, but once I saw and test drove the SI, there was no going back.

if you can afford it, you can't go wrong with an Si. I just believe it's overpriced and I personally just wanted a cruiser car so I picked up an EX.

Si = k20/LSD tranny/bigger brakes

that pretty much says it all. I just don't like the Si interior. Also, it was hard for me to find a 2dr black so I gave up.

So you DID want an Si, but couldn't find the color you wanted and "gave up"?

you could also get a used EP3 with very low miles (like new) .there rare, mine is an 05 (stock) and everyone asked my questions about it. for some reason at gas stations, maybe the taffy white catches the eye haha!lol

payemtns will be cheap too, then you can save up for a k24 or a2,jrsc what ever you want.

idk,just an idea.

good luck

I guess the EVO really IS junk then. I've seen about a dozen people that traded from EVO to Si.
