Default High-flow Air Filter, using standard air box???

Hi, I’m nearing the end of an ITR conversion in a Mini & need some advice.

Has anyone got any reports (good or bad) using the standard Honda ITR air filter?
My initial thoughts are to use a high-flow K&N type element (if it’s available), but I would like to retain the air-box and intake. Does anyone out there know of a high flow element that I could install in the standard air box? & retaining the standard inlet delivery tube.
Or am I worrying about nothing and the standard filter is perfecly useable??

TIA
Cheers
Brian

It is just a butt dyno gaining of .01 hps with K&N E2427 or Spoon drop in as OEM replacement.

You can't just say something like that and not post the specs.

I've dyno'ed 226whp with my 2.0L with stock ITR airbox w/K&N, ITR arm, tb and im

Unless you are worried about visual inspection ie: smog, just upgrade to a whole arm + filter system like the Comptech or PasswordJDM (J's Racing)...etc.

i've dynoed with the oem filter and a drop in using the oem airbox, negligible difference. i'd stay with the oem filter, it has better filtration

Thanks for the info guys, at least I know it's worth using the standard airbox and I have some options for the filter.
I've never been a fan of the aftermarket induction kit route. I've always favoured trying to pull in dense low air from the front of the car, and introducing it in a controlled environment. With a good front scoop, it may be possible to achieve some positive pressure into the airbox, which can only be a good thing.
While we're talking airflow - what diameter exhausts are you running? As I said this engine is running in a Mini, which has a maximum of a 1,275cc as standard.
Obviously there are a few companies making aftermarket performance exhausts for the standard engines, these tend to stop at about a two inch diameter. Do you feel 2" would be a restriction and hamper the breathing? I've had a measure of the exhaust manifold which is 41mm (1 5/8"). So on the face of it may not be such a problem. What do you think?

TIA

Brian
