Default Help getting rid of CEL (Code 91 for a car that doesn't even have an FTP sensor)

i have my 96 Civic CX Hatchback and it has a B16A2 Motor/Tranny/ECU from a 99 Civic Si. It throws a Code 91 for a FTP Sensor that the vehicle doesn't and never did have.

Now I know I have multiple options for solving this. I wanna know how to accomplish 2 ways.

One way is to use a 10K-Ohm Linear-Taper Potentiometer to fake the FTP signal. Only one problem with that. I have absolutely no freakin clue how to do that. I have the potentiometer but I don't know what to do with it. I never even heard of one until i read about this fix but I didn't find instructions on how to do it though. I would like a full walkthrough with pictures if anyone has it.

The other way is to convert the the computer setup. Now I'm not too proficient in the OBD stuff. I think the motor/ECU are OBD2b and that's all I know about the car. Is the car itself OBD2a originally? Also I know that an OBD1 Conversion can fix this too but can an OBD2a conversion fix it? Does a 96-97 Del Sol VTEC have an FTP cause they had B16A2's in them too. I know the 94-95 ones were OBD1. Also is a 95 EX ECU usable in this situation cause I have the one from my old car. Only problem I can see is that it's for a D16Z6. Can someone please tell me the easiest computer swap and conversion to do is. I'm almost clueless when it comes to the ECU (which is ironic since I'm a computer nerd).

I know the the potentiometer fix is immensely cheaper but I don't know if I can pull it off. I know that the computer conversion is more definite but I have no freakin clue what to use or how to do it correctly.

Thanks in advance for any help.

To fake the signal just put it between the main lead and the ground wire.

All it is is a resistor, causes resistance, thinks the sensor is in place. All sensors are are variable resistors - resistance changes with different readings relaying it to gauges 'n such .

how do I do that though. I've never soldered nor even really looked at an ECU before. I'd like some step by step instructions and pics if possible and where in god's name would you out this massive thing anyway. I mean it's rod with a frickin hockey puck stuck to the top.

calm down!
when it comes to wiring harnesses & ecus people freak out & act like its the hardest thing ever

C28: +5v
A29: FTP input
C18: Ground

if u understand this its no problem
if not learn how to find ecu plug pinouts

ok I understand the wiring part (I think) but where in gods name is the potentiometer itself supposed to sit. I mean it's a big ole rod with a disc on it. Where is it supposed to sit.
