Default I'm back...theories?

B18LS, OBD1, Boomslang harness (all connections soldered well), OBD1 PR4 ECU, stock engine, YS1 transmission, stock CIVIC STD exhaust (except manfiold and downpipe)

Injectors tested and were doing well

New Parts:
New civ STD cat converter
New acura integra fuel filter
New civ STD intake filter
New Spark plugs gapped correctly
New civ STD Muffler

Well, as before, my car was running GREAT for about a week after the swap. It would run til the rev limited kicked in and would bark tires in third. Now, it seems to be getting to about (I don't have a tachometer, so I'm guessing) 4500rpms and it starts to sputter, almost as if it's choking itself out. For example, first gear goes to about 20, chokes, 2nd gear about 35, chokes, 3rd gear 60mph, chokes. I know these are FAR below what the engine is capable of doing in each gear. So I'm looking for theories from you on what it's doing because it caused me to fail my emissions today. According to the emissions, the engine is flooding itself out and practically has raw gas coming out the rear. ECU is throwing NO codes.

I've checked the timing like 4 times, I SWEAR it's on!

Theories that have risen:
1. Map sensor went out
2. Civ cat converter CANNOT handle an LS, and burned up and shattered causing a block in the exhaust (theory eliminated)
3. Same theory as above, but with the muffler (theorgy eliminated)
4. Same theory as above, but with the resonator
5. Bad ECU
6. Throttle Position Sensor gone bad or shorting
7. IACV gone bad or shorting
8. Intake Air Temp Sens gone bad or shorting

Any other ideas?

PR4 is OBD1...isn't it?

The "converted" includes an OBD1 Dizzy, OBD1 Alt, boomslang harness (OBD0-OBD1 for DPFI motor) and OBD1 PR4 ECU

Let me make sure I'm right on that...

however, I would think that if it was an OBD0 ECU, the OBD1 Boomslang plugs wouldn't plug in...so I'm probably just wrong on the ECU code...

make sure u got the RIGHT ecu

but on a separate note, i had this similar problem with my car when i drowned it when it flooded. it ended up being the spark plugs, but i had to just dry it out, so maybe its ur plugs or dizzy. Similar except mine had water lol.

Forgot to mention, new cap and rotor in the dizzy...

I found something interesting. I dropped the cat off on the back side and shined a light in to see what I could see. I saw the O2 sensor. By this...I mean there's NOTHING in the cat converter. Somehow it blew out. Which my guess means it stopped up the resonator or muffler. So I took that off, and the muffler had some particles loose and shaking around...I got a few out, but I know it's not all of the converter, so I'm wondering if there's still more in there... Could any have been stopped up in the resonator?

I took off the muffler and resonater and hit 'em (to knock anything loose) and shook this **** out of 'em. I didn't get anything out of the resonater and it's pipe (either end) and the muffler only brought out maybe half a handful of crap, and alot of it was fine-grain. I heard alot more fine-grain stuff moving around in there, but couldn't get it out. When I reassembled this, I took it up the street. It didn't seem to choke out til higher up in the RPMs, but not by much...

I think my muffler's jacked and not letting my engine breath...I'm looking for another exhaust to use to pass the sniffer test, then try to figure out why it blew my cat to ****...

cat converter and muffler just replaced...same outcome.

New theories on the board...feel free to knock them out, or post more.

Thanks, again, everyone

When you check the timing are you checking the ignition or cam timing? Usually being a tooth off can cause serious performace issues at very low or very high rpms depending on which way your off. What about fuel pressure?

GSXR - That's gonna be our next idea. I just gotta find someone nice enough to let me borrow their ECU for a second. Either that or put mine in their car for a second...
...according to helms, if the engine lights stays on, the ECU is in "back-up mode". What they fail to mention is if it stays on with or without the jumper in, or whatnot... With no jumper in, I have no CEL's. With it in, the CEL stays solid, and shows no other codes...

blah - Timing was checked by hooking a timing light up to the #1 spark plug wires, and flashing a strobe down onto the crank pulley. I'm firing JUST BARELY advanced with the dizzy retarded as far as possible. However, this doesn't neccessarily account for the exhaust cam as the dizzy is mounted off the intake cam. My car runs fine at idle, low, and low-mid RPMS. Only has troubles after that, and only during accel. If I downshift, it comes down smoothly. I'm certain it's getting enough fuel, but is it maybe getting TOO MUCH?

Check the map. Because my b18 did the same thing that yours is and that was what fixed it. I have to the pr4 and pr3 and the ecu swap did nothing.

I'll see if I can't check that. How much are those to replace? (in the event it's dead)

Also, wouldnt' the MAP show up on CEL code?
