Default Not succeeding at this...any theories?

B18LS, OBD1, Boomslang harness (all connections soldered well), OBD1 PR4 ECU, stock engine, YS1 transmission, stock CIVIC STD exhaust (except manfiold and downpipe)
Injectors tested and were doing well

New Parts:
New civ STD cat converter
New acura integra fuel filter
New civ STD intake filter
New Spark plugs gapped correctly
New civ STD Muffler

Well, as before, my car was running GREAT for about a week after the swap. It would run til the rev limited kicked in and would bark tires in third. Now, it seems to be getting to about (I don't have a tachometer, so I'm guessing) 4500rpms and it starts to sputter, almost as if it's choking itself out. For example, first gear goes to about 20, chokes, 2nd gear about 35, chokes, 3rd gear 60mph, chokes. I know these are FAR below what the engine is capable of doing in each gear. So I'm looking for theories from you on what it's doing because it caused me to fail my emissions today. According to the emissions, the engine is flooding itself out and practically has raw gas coming out the rear. ECU is throwing NO codes.

I've checked the timing like 4 times, I SWEAR it's on!

Theories that have risen:
1. Map sensor went out
2. Civ cat converter CANNOT handle an LS, and burned up and shattered causing a block in the exhaust (theory eliminated)
3. Same theory as above, but with the muffler (theorgy eliminated)
4. Same theory as above, but with the resonator
5. Bad ECU
6. Throttle Position Sensor gone bad or shorting
7. IACV gone bad or shorting
8. Intake Air Temp Sens gone bad or shorting

Any other ideas?

Sounds like it could be a fuel issue, getting too much or not enough fuel. Check ur spark plugs and see what they tell u. Black, white, or caramel colored.

Well, tonight pulled off the "brand new converter" well...it was new when it went in. However, I think the engine was too much for it...overpowered it and blew the **** out of it. The cat converter was completely hollow. My guess is all the crap came out and is blocking exhaust from escaping, thus choking the engine.

This would also count for:
1: Why it doesn't have a problem at low revs
2: Why it's blowing high numbers in emissions

Oh...I should add tomorrow I'm replacing the cat again, and trying to find someone else exhaust to borrow to get through emissions (cuz they don't push engines hard, so the cat should be fine) and then get an aftermarket exhaust as soon as I can afford it.

We'll see if the "new" temporary setup runs better.

cat converter and muffler just replaced...same outcome.

New theories on the board...feel free to knock them out, or post more.

Thanks, again, everyone

If only the engine would go to rev limiter...

I don't have a tach so I can't give you exacts, but I would assume the engine's doing this around 4500-5000rpms. I'm going to look into the fuel regulator...

It just confuses the **** outta me cuz I can't figure it out. OBD1 has sensors EVERYWHERE on that engine. If something goes wrong, I'd expect a code, but none have come up. CEL doesn't even come on (except for those infamous first two seconds after you start it) and when jumped it stays on constantly. All of that checks out right...but what problem DOESN'T set that off?

I have checked it many times and reset it about 4 times. However, I"m curious as to if I'm setting it wrong. Another theory that arose was that the timing is off on the crank and not on the cams... This weekend when I get a chance to get in there, I'm gonna use the old method for finding TDC: (Stick a long rod down the spark plug hole and spin it til it comes to the top) and go from the very start.

correct me if i'm wrong but if the cell stays on constantly when jumped doesn't that mean the computer is shot or in limp mode or something?

I thought when jumped, it was supposed to stay on, and that just meant it was in "back-up" mode...

Someone please verify. Go jump yours and let me know what you find...this would be a huge help...

The P28 I think is different from the OBD1 PR4 in that aspect, though. my D15B2 OBD0 flashed or nothing, but never stayed on solid... Could be wrong... I wanna find me a damn ECU to test it out!
