Default not burning fuel please help.

Hey, I changed my plugs today and I notice that they are not burning fuel like they should be. I was wondering if there were any mods I could do to help make sure I am burning all the fuel. And also, what it do any damage if I filled my car up with a higher octaine than unleaded? and what are the benifits of that? thanks guys.

Do you mean that they're fouled with carbon from running too rich? If that's the case then figure out why. Otherwise I have no idea what you're talking about.

Running a higher octane than your engine needs won't do any harm, but it doesn't have any benifits. The octance you need is related to your engine's compression ration, so unless you're higher than stock you don't need anything better than unleaded. Save your money.

well, when I removed the plugs they were fouled up and black. and that's because it's not burning all the fuel correct? Would a differnet gauge spark plug wires help burn more fuel or creat more spark? would a new distibutor cap and rotor make any difference? Thanks

How old were the plugs? How old is your dist cap, rotor, and plug wires? Does your motor burn oil? You should be using ngk copper plugs which come in your car from the factory.

what do you mean black? was it oily or dry black. could be from alot of things.

Could be your ignition, wires plugs cap rotor ICM or ignitor. Hondas run lean, so you might have an issue with your ignition, or your PCV valve is seriously clogged

the plugs weren't oily but more just black. I am not sure how old the dis.cap and wires are but I'm assuming that they are stock. How would I know if my PCV valve is clogged? how would I check that? would new plug wires and cap help in any way?

Sounds like it's running rich.

How old are the plugs?

How's your MPG?

How's the car running?

the car is running fine. the only thing that concerns me is whenever I'm sitting at a stop light or something my RPM's will drop down to 500. I don't think that's right. But other than that the car performs and drives like normal. and my MPG's are fine. Any ideas?
