Default D16y7 to D16y8 swap..

Hey guys I am building a D16y7 with a d16y8 head..The Ecu that I need is the 96-98 Ex..I have the head the intake manifold now all i need is the correct ecu, fuel injectors, and Distributer...Other than that I think I have everything..Will I need a wiring harness from an ex or will my dx harness work..I know I have to run like 5 or 6 wires for vtec and various other things but I have all the diagrams to hook them up to the engine and ecu..Email me if you are planning on doing this swap or have done it..zaxfire@bellsouth.net Thanks

i could be wrong
but i dont think you need a new distributor
the head should bolt right up to your block
and the harness is the same
you just need to wire the vtec up to the harness

it depends on what kind of project you are doing. That is what I am doing right now. Are you puttin a 96-00 sohc vtec motor in a 92-95 civic or vis versa. I am putting a 96+ sohc motor in my car and I ran through a few problems because the motor was OBD2. I had to use my old engine wire harness, add the vtec wires. swap out injectors and put my old one injectors in and re-pin the distrubuter. Buy a P28 ECU, used my old alternator and convert the single wire o2 sensor to 4 wire. That what I am stuck right now.... Have any idea? Thanks in advance, if you do need a 96+ sohc vtec ECU, I do have them....

I am doing a 96 Civic Dx D16y7 block, and adding a d16y8 head..I Do need a 96+98 Ecu..I have a 99-00 Ex ecu if you are interested in trading..I need the ecu that has the pins on the first and last slot of the ecu..The 99-00 Ecu is different..I bought the ecu from a guy and he told me it was a 96-98 Ecu and come to find out it is a 99-00 ecu...Let me know if you wanna trade or how much you would like to sell it for...I saw a pic in this forum with the ecu that I need...The title of the post is Will a 00' si ecu work for a mini me.... It is on page 3 right now check the pic out...Thanks man get back in touch about he ecu...David

well, the 96+98 motor that you are using, what kind of car are you puttin it in ? Yeah I would sell the ECU to you, its from a 96-98 civic and have no use for the other ECU. sorry, and I will check the diagram for you once I get the ecu at my shop. Give me an offer and I will reason with you. You can email me at buddhaboys@asianavenue.com or post it.
