Think I should jump on this deal???
I had a new guy at my college offer me a '93 hatch with a completely built JDM B18C5 Type R and a Right hand Conversion for $1000 shipped to my house...He says it was rear ended and his insurance company paid for most of the mods and the car as well, so he said he just wants it out of his yard at his house back in his hometown. He said its completely drivable and it outruns most turbo car but it has no back hatch and needs quarter panels...He told me the car is worthless to him, he wants $500 for the motor alone, or $800 for the whole car(motor included), or $1000 and hell have it trailered back to where I live...I know its an insane deal, but I need your guys help convincing my dad (He doesnt want it in the driveway)....So I would like your honest opinion, should I jump on this deal before someone else does??
Before you do anything, you need to look at it. Never EVER buy sigh unseen. Everyones opinions of goods differs from "slightly" damaged to "hell bent" Just like those carfax commercials. Once you've done that, make sure even though it's wrecked, you can get the title either transferred, or you can get it clean and clear for a parts car without him being able to come back on you and say some random bull. As long as those two parts check out, i would say hell yes jump on the deal...I mean that's a good price, you just need to make sure everything checks out ok.
WTF...sounds like a fishy deal to me yo...i would not have it shipped to the pad beause then, he'll know where you live and then you car might end up missing...you never know...but 1000 for a htch with type r motor sounds really weird to me...

THis is a very good point, but when I state you should jump on it once everything checks out, I'm referring to the point that you could take the **** out of that one and put it into another shell.

The guy said I could ride with him this weekend to go look at it, and I dont plan on keeping the car, Im just buying for the engine...I have a turbo LS in my '95 coupe right now and the trubo has worn out the rings in the stock LS and I plan on putting the type r in the car and selling the turbo kit

u need to see the car. you have to ask yourself, if that was your car would you sell it for 800 bucks? no. you'd part the car out and make yourself SEVERAL THOUSAND dollars.
