what kind of turbo should i use on my d16a6 engine the engine will be fully rebuilt with eagle rods and aries turbo pistons i need some that will pull. i have every thing but the turbo still havent decided. thanks
im going with a t25 dsm turbo from the eclipse around 92 i believe, but its factory gated at 8 psi which is perfect for sohc motor, there are teo4h turbos that are probe/mx6 turbos which i believe are gated at 5 psi, they spoil up almost instant becus there so small, i have 2 of those but there blown, needs new bearings and seals, but anyways dsm t25 is the way to go, they make great adapter plates to the hf manifold too.
lemme know whatsup becus my project is in effect too and it would be cool to converse

i am not going to be done with my engine in a couple of months till winter is gone. If i use the t25 dsm one i have to make my self a plate for the t3 headers i have. Whats the difference between the t25 and 14b

thats what i have been thinking i dont know what to get a t3 which i have the exhaust manifold or make my self the conver plate for the 14b and use the 450 blue tops because i dont know how i am going to tune it . all i have is a vafc apexi. what d o you think i dont know where to tune it.

i would agree with the t3 upgrade but too much, if ur looking for alot of hp just drop a dohc motor and build it than go with t3, but low boost daily driver and gsr killer use a t25, and the 14b is smaller than the t25 at least from what ive seen but t25 is the way to go.

you have a built forged block, why use a 14b? motor like that can easily handle 400+ whp with the right turbo and good tuning. I mean the 450cc injectors will hold you back to around 300whp at stock fuel pressure regulator..Trust me get the t3 super 60,,the 14b will not "pull" like you want..Also why use the vafc? its 2007 . Get the chipped ecu and get a custom tuned program for your engine,it will run better and you wont have that vafc in your way in the interior...I mean you could actually sell the vafc for the cost of chipping and tuning.. What state are you in?

to the original poster get a t3 super 60 turbo, perfect turbo for sohc motors under 300whp imo</TD></TR></TABLE>
I was going to say the same thing

yeah i believe the 14b is bigger and came in the 94 down dsm...t25 was 95 up dsm...but anyways i would go with the t3 super 60...i had both a 14b and t3 on a sohc...let me tell you this much boost is addicting...once ur boosted ur gonna want more boost...might as will stick to the bigger turbo so you wont have to upgrade later.
14b is bigger than a t25 and they hold boost better than the t25 in the higher rev range. but both are only good for maybe 12psi at the most. after that its nothing but hot air. but like said if your going to be boosting a built engine why not a t3 super 60 or even better a t3 48 hot side with a 60 a.r . anyway i have a 14b and i should get around 210-220 hp at 10 psi . its better than a t25 actually
My opinion in short...why even consider a T25 on a built motor, it would be a waste.
At a minimum I'd look at a T3 super 60...prefer a T3/T4 50 trim or what I'm on now, a 57 trim.

pretty much the only junkyardable turbo id use on a built sohc would be a .60 .63 t3. or like the other guy said 50 trim t3/t4.
t25 would be a joke, also a 14b would be pretty lame as well.

like he said opinions. not every one is all about 300hp + some people like my self like a decent car thats fast too, it just cost alot of money u know to build something like that, but who evr has one great job wish it was me heh

Yeah,,but he has a fully built motor.

You could just streettune it with a wideband o2 sensor, and a laptop. What state are you in?
