Default stock shocks and struts

considering that the OEM specs of the crx's springs are : 250/150

i was just thinking on how high of a spring rate can the stock shocks/struts actually take without blowing or causing major issues?

edit: and/or how low?

There are a ton of variables in there. That is not something that can easily be answered.

Why the heck would you want to put a high rate spring on an old worn OEM shock? Even it if the OEM shocks were brand new it'd cause them to wear out faster. On old, dying EF shocks it'll kill them almost immediately.

You do realize how the spring/shock works? The spring actually absorbs the bump as it compresses. Stiffer springs mean less absorbtion. The shock controls how quickly the spring returns to it's full length after being compressed (and controls how quickly the spring compresses). OEM shocks were designed to control OEM springs. Put a stiff heavy spring on there and the shock will literally shoot back to full length without being slowed down at all. That'll make your car ride like crap......
