Default 225/45/15 or 205/50/15

I'm looking into getting a set of the 949Racing 15x8 +40 offset wheels for my '96 DX and I'm wondering which tire would be better. I'll be putting TEIN SS-P on my car and lowering it probably 1.5" front and then leveling the rear w/ the front. I'll be setting the car up for daily use with quite a few occasions at the track. What would you guys reccomend?

225s would surely fit an 8" rim better than 205s would.

depends on the tire, actually. iirc, todd00 put 205/50/15 rt-215 azenis on some 15x8 te37's and from the pics, it looked perfect.

but yeah, i'm guessing the 'kook isn't as wide as the old azenis, so i'd go with the 225.

isn't there an issue with rubbing on the rear of civics with 225's though?

The 205/50 Azenis will grip better than the 225 Hankook, despite the Hankook's greater width. You also won't have any problems with rubbing, whereas with the 225 that is possible/probable, with the very least being that some decent fender rolling would be required.

So to avoid the rubbing situation I should just go with the 205s?

if we can fit 225 on an EF you can surely fit it on an EK body style with out rubbing. my vote is 225 all the way

I remember someone (CivicSiRacer maybe?) distinctly having problems with 225s on the rear of an EK. I don't have personal experience with it myself though.

civicsiracer used some odd offsets too. +45 rings a bell. +38 is the way to go for 225 on most all hondas. i can run 225 50 15 v710 on my +38 k1 in the front with no problem as well as 225 45 15 hooseir on a+35. i didnt have camber adjustment in the rear som i couldnt try 225 in the back. but from what everyone has told me camber and +38 and 225 will fit in the rear

+45 should have less of a problem for fitment in the rear if the fender/quarter panel lip is the issue though (as opposed to the trailing arm or UCA). I really don't know though, I'm just going off what I remember. Maybe Chad can chime in...

CivicSIracer--->Still for sale after many "I have the money, and will send to you tomorrow" emails.
I have my 15x7" Kosei K1s 4x100 45mm offset in gunmetal gray. They are in good condition and only a few minor blemishes.

1st $400 takes them. I am located in Lancaster, PA. You pay shipping if you want them out of state.

Shoot me an email if interested. mikelouie@comcast.net

I ended up picking up a set of Team Dynamics Pro Race 1s in black. I got 15x7 with offset for a civic. I think I'm just gona get 205/50/15 Azenis.

My main reason for getting these wheels is so I can get the 12.2 Wilwood kit with the 11" Fastbrakes rear kit.

Yea thats what it is. I wasn't sure if it was 40 or 36. I couldn't remember what the offset for Civics is.
