should i buy this turbo?
a friend of mine is selling his old turbo... that came on the car when he bought it.
it is a garrett a/r 60m10.. never heard of it

hes willing to let it go for around 250 bucks... is it worth it? i have no clue about the mileage but everything seems to spin fine.. also if you look at the inlet.. you can see that it was slightly cut for some reason.. i dunno if it was cause he had clearance issues of somethin...
has anyone heard if this turbo...
i;m planning on using this for a cp forged 11:1 compression motor...
preciate any guidance

i would recomend like a t3(.63ar)/60-1 or somethign of that nature
Dont worry about fast "spooling" and **** like that it doesent matter how fast it spools for the record the quicker it spools you will have more problem with traction.
start big so you can go big (for 100-150) you can get a turbo that can support 250-500 whp
why get the one that can only support 370..i think you get what i am tryen to get at...

I dont agree with that. Hes not looking for 500whp, just 300. Why bother with all the lag. Fast spooling turbos are great. There are lots of ways to deal with the wheel spin, but not very many ways to deal with lag.

I dont agree with that. Hes not looking for 500whp, just 300. Why bother with all the lag. Fast spooling turbos are great. There are lots of ways to deal with the wheel spin, but not very many ways to deal with lag.

But really, the turbo is a little big for 300 hp..If you have the cheese to spend, id go with a garrett gt2871r..good for up to 350hp, but its also in the $1k range and you have to plumb water lines.Check out the t3/t04e, still a little big for 300hp but its better than that turbo. Look in the HT sponsor market place i belive you pick one up for around $550 brand new.

did you ever drive a boosted honda?
trust me when you get a taste you will want more,
i have tested the traction theory and a bigger turbo hooks better, but more importantly with a bigger turbo is proven to be better for the motor. even at the same power level...
2 years ago took a stock b18b with a 60-1 @10psi made 260whp and went 11.87@118...on street tires..and it was my 100% my daily driver...drove it to the track and back at least once a week....
dont be scared of the 60 trim it about the same money

If this is for the street, you'd probably love that t3 for ~285whp, but thats a tall order for that turbo on 11:1. A more realistic turbo would be a 50 trim t3/t04e, .63ar stg3 wheel.
If its just for the track, spool time is not something to worry about, unless you go crazy and slap a gt40 on there.
The real key isn't big or small. You want a turbo capible of putting you in its sweet spot (75% or better effeciency on the comp. map) since you're at a high compression. But if you only plan on 7psi for 300whp...
You'll have to play with compressor maps quite a bit.
