wanting to build my first engine
well i have always wanted to do this, but never really committed to it. i mainly just had one major question which seems to be the failure of most engines. i noticed people tend to spin rod bearings, and i'm curious how this is caused and how i can prevent this?

check and recheck clearances and dont skimp out on parts. if you use stock rod bolts keep the same redline.
it never hurts to beef up your engine more that you'll actually use it for

yeah i was thinking about doing a lsvtec longblock build.. i was reading all those lsvtec threads on here and they basically answered almost everything i needed.. i figured i would build a engine first then buy a shell later and see if it actually runs haha.
I'm just like you I'm going to building a motor also but its going to be a built Z6 over the winter to go in my daily driver. I would rather build the z6 first and do my lsvtec later so I can learn on something a little cheaper. Your going to need a helms manual and research, research and more research. I've been looking this over I actually put all the pages into a binder. So what if its a little nerdy.

I really want to take a engine building class at like vocational school, but I don't have time for it.
