Default SOHC w/P72 OBD II

My friend just bought a 99 EX coupe. Yesterday he gets a check engine light. We run the code and it says that the ECM/PCM is malfunctioning. The problem is he needs a new computer, but he has a P72 OBDII computer sitting at home. My question is if that computer can be used to run the SOHC motor in his 99 EX? Thanks!

How would richening an already rich mixture make it "run a little better?"

In theory you could make the P72 work, but it'll run rich as hell. There's no use anyway since the D16 and the B18C are completely different.

Oh yea, and it depends on what year P72 it is. 00-01 USDM P72s are equipped with immobilizers so if it doesn't find the transponder in your key, which it won't because it's a Civic key, then your fuel pump will be cut and you can't start the car.
