Default Type R engine swap for a newer K20

I've already read around the forum so I'm not asking about how much more horsepower green underglow kits get as opposed to blue underglow kits. Has anyone out there ever traded or been able to sell a type r engine for a newer K20? It's something I've been thinking about doing but only if I could sell my engine and find a K20 around the same time frame. It's got about 57,000Km on it, pretty much brand new, some old German dude drove it on sundays for about 6 years. Do people actually have luck selling stuff on this site or should I do something like ebay. Thanks!

Well, selling your engine on Honda-Tech is going to be tough. Most of us over here are in America, and I doubt anyone would want to pay to ship your B18C5 over here.

As for putting a K series engine in your car, yes you can buy those and put one in, I've heard people say the entire swap will cost around 10,000 USD (if you don't install it and wire it up yourself). And don't expect to get much more than 3,000-4,000 USD for your B18C because most people get crate motors shipped over from Japan.

I'm guessing you are located in Europe, if I were you I would try seeing if anyone is interested in buying it on http://www.itr-dc2.com It's a UK based Integra Type R website.

Hope the info helps you.

Work at 8:00 AM is going to suck.

here's an idea-

your profile says that you're from stuttgart. if you know any american soldiers on the post there, ask them to put the word out that you have a motor for sale. i'm sure there's some honda loving guy that would be happy to buy it from you.

i'd help you out with it, but i'm in vilseck which is a little too far away.

I've been thinkin about doin that, I don't see too many honda's runnin around here though, mostly BMW's and their imported american cars. I'm not even sure I want to sell it, I'm just having a hard time deciding whether to destroy this engine with either supercharger/turbo, I know it's a risky operation on the DC2, being it's high reving self. Secondly, does anyone know of any shops out here in Germany that make CF hoods, trunks, etc? Shipping is like 700$ for parts that big. I want to eventually make my entire car CF, even CF tires and windsheild!

fig newtons huh? i like the strawberry newtons myself.

i know what you mean about how it's hard to find parts for hondas in germany. all the shops here are for vw's and bmw's. i guess you could always go in and ask if they can order honda parts. i'm sure they have connections that can get you parts for a reasonable price.

ya like the time I curbed my car (******* cut me off in my brand new snow tires.......we all know how those handle) and took it to a german shop, told me I needed new tie rods, took it to an american shop on base and all it turned out to be was an alignment. The shops out here wouldn't even order parts me, I went to a local honda dealership once and the part was almost 200$ more than ordering online!

Dude your car looks hot!

Get a shell and put a K20a in it. I like your car the way it is. Pretty clean.

Do you really need a K-series?

I'm only asking because it's a hell of a lot of money to spend, and not worth it IMO if you're going to keep the K basically stock. With not even half of what you'd spend on the swap you can get around 200 whp out of your B, which is about how much a stock K20A-R makes.

Then again, with either engine, tuning is key to making reliable power, and I'm not sure what your tuning options are over there.
