Default skunk 2 satge 1 or stage 2 cams???

i planned on getting stage 2 cams in the future for my gsr motor but for right now im gonna keep the block stock.. i was thinking of getting the stage 1's for now but would it still be safe to run the stage 2's on a stock block gsr without any problems?? keep in mind i will be tuning it and it will be on 91 pump gas if that makes a difference. and this will be on a built head. also what is the highest i can rev to safely with the stock block with the fully built head??... thanks!!!

Yes it will be safe as long as it is tuned. But those cams would perform better with higher compression.(like 11.5:1) And you only need to rev as high as you make power, your tuner will figure this out but, it CAN go upwards of say umm 9500rpm,with the proper supporting valvetrain components.
Also...do this <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by JDM DERF &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">SEARCH!</TD></TR></TABLE>

it'll be safe, you just won't have the compression to make it worth it. I had blox type b cams, basically skunk 2 stage 2 knock offs, (not pro series) in my 97 gsr with stock block, milled head, .01", 2 layer headgasket and valvetrain to match. I ended up replacing them with bc3 cams, which have a much more pull low and mid range than the blox type b cams. Its also my d.d. central cali 91 octane.

based upon the advice given hear i would just save for what you want and not bother with stage anything i do not want to serve the purpose of the build i want!

in other words just get everything together throw it in tune it be happy and do not waste money on anything you do not want like someone said there is a wealth of good information on this website search and find what suits you!

It should be fine but if you can get PR3s I'd rather get those. I made 195whp with S2S2 on "poorman's R" (GSR block/USDM ITR pistons/B16 head milled .020) with around 11.6:1 comp.

Are you ready for this one, are you? EBAY, guy totaled out his car before he installed them. He was kind enough to through in an aebs triple o-ring cam plug for free.
