Default backfire?

has anyone heard their car backfire? i was coming home from work last nigh, racing an SE-R,and slowing down from 70mph-60mph i downshifted from 4-3rd and heard a loud POP sound coming from the back of the car, there were no potholes, rims are fine, and break lines still good so im guessing since i power shifted it must've backfired but wat am askin is is this badformy engine/tranny???any info will help. thnx

?????????? :\

A limited slip differential aids in traction when accelerating/cornering ... maybe you're confusing the LSD with ABS or EBD?

You powershifted from 4-3rd or you power-shifted while racing(prior to the downshift) ... ??? And powershifting wont really have any SERIOUS effects on the engine / trans provided you do it right... which is doubtful in this situation. Your clutch will be the first victim if you are shifting incorrectly... followed by the engine/trans suffering.

How exactly are you supposed to powershift to prevent damage? This i would like to know for future use.

The cars that are backfiring do they have aftermarket exhausts...
sometimes a backfire is caused by little wholes in the exhaust(imperfections in the weld)and it sucks oxygen in and creates a backfire.

My car makes a lovely array of loud pops when briefly hitting the 5500rpm rev limiter @ 3psi boost.

Sounded ******* sick!

I normally don't just rev at a standstill, but I was testing my new boost gauge and couldn't drive the car because of the weather
