Ok I got a problem here I would like to look into and fix. Whenever I get on my car from a deadstop I go through 1st and 2nd gear vtec fine, but when I hit 3rd at around 7k RPM's my CEL pops on and vtec noticeably gets weaker and the car noticeably goes slower. I am not throwing any codes so I have no clue what is going on please help...

 

Do you have enough oil in the car? If you don't and you're oil pressure is going down at that point with that much more load on the car, it would cause the vtec to kick off and possibly a check engine light, although a CEL will cause vtec not to work in itself. If you're getting one, there's probably a code stored in the engine, you don't need to have a solid CEL for it to keep a code because just as your post states, it happens at a certain point/time frame...so I'd run a check on that.

 

Yeah I have enough oil for sure. Oil is changed on the dot every 3000 with Mobil 1 Synthetic. Bump for any info!
