....Just follow the instructions and you should be fine. Make sure you take out the battery (easier to install intake) and when you're all finished connect battery, let car idle for 15 minutes to let the ECU reprogram itself with the added airflow.

There was much debate about that in previous posts, but I think we came to the conclusion that it'd be best to take it off, makes for an easier install.

Eh, injen, aem, and fujita still make cold air intakes for the r18's I think the issue with this one is him having an auto and some website saying it won't fit specifically the "auto" civic.

/\ Good deal, I'm sure that helped him out. I'm still kinda curious as to why other intakes wouldn't work with auto tranny's.

I mean, it's not like the tranny would be in the way, I'm sure there is additional hardware involved with the auto tranny, but it doesn't seem like any of it would interfer with an intake.

--------

Alright, so after some looking around, I can't find anything that states any of the intakes out for the r18 won't work on the auto tranny.

IMO, go for Injen. I'll be getting mine fairly soon as well.

Yeah I'm planning on going with black just because I've never been a big fan of chrome.

Is that the best price you've found??? I'd probably go looking around elsewhere, I'm sure you could knock off maybe 10, 20 bucks.

It probably could if enough of it accumulates on the intake filter. I would stick with a SRI instead of a CAI.

To ellaborate, Injen and Fujita have proved to be the best quality and show the best gains for this product. AEM has had a few issues.

hey i know this post says injen cai, ya ok but i have a EX coupe and a aem cai, and when i had it first installed, it was done by a shop, and me being a dumb *** kid decided to wate till redline to shif so i had to spend alot to replace the electrical stuff that i melted in the engine(thats wut honda said)
so last friday i decided that i was going to put back in the in take and i went out and bought a new coolant line(i think its the coolant) because they threw away my old one along with the pipe that goes from the engine block back to the cai, so i went down to superauto backs and asked one of the guys there and he said i could just get one of these small air filters for cover up the holes(BIG ******* MISTAKE)

ya so i bought 2 of the little air fliters,. instead of having a pipe that goes from the engine block to the cai i had 2 fliters, so it wasnt letting the car breath. ok so i got everything on and it seemed to be working fine, i put back on the bumper and took it for a spin.

almost directly up the street from where i live is a stop sign, so i pulled up to the stop sign and stoped, then engine completely died. so i sat there with a blank look and then turned it back on. an hour or 2 later the check engine light came on, 20 min after that i it wouldnt let me go past 4 rpm, it would get to the 4 and stutter so i kept it under 4 rpm all the way home, i let it cool for 20 min then let my friends dad drive it cause he's a mechanic. so he drive it and it was working fine but the check engine light was still on so he said take the air filters off and get a pipe to go from the engine block to the cai,

so i took the filters off and started on the freeway to superautobacks again to be a pipe, and on the freeway in traffic the engine dies again, and that was the last time, when i got to the store i found out they didnt have the right size hose so i went back home, (big waste of my time) so the next day i put back on the factory intake and make sure everything is secure and turn the key to start the engine and it starts and the check engine light goes away, but now it still seems like the car is slowing down faster then it used to before i put the cai intake in on friday.

jw if any of u guys knew why it acted that way when i put the intake in or y it seems to slow down faster now?

thanks guys

...I don't even know what to say to that, shouldn't have listened to that store you went to, you got a pic of it at all?

I had something similar happen to me... well not exactly the same cause, but my car kept stuttering and died at stops and such, and the reason was because when the shop that I had it at was putting my intake back in from doing some work on the car, they lost a hose clamp and the intake tube slowly disconnected itself... from itself... (you know how there are two pieces? well they didn't stay together because of the missing hose clamp) Anyway, make a long story short it's because air is bypassing the sensor and the throttle.... so to sum it up, my car wasn't getting any air into the intake manifold.... well maybe not none, but very little.

im in the middle of installin my intake and the part of actually putting the main piece to the intake box with the 2 hoses doesnt seem to fit right, the hose has to be bent over a little and the metal pipe is not able to comppletly fit where it connects with the clamps, i checked the part number and i have the right one, but anyone know if this is normal? what should i do?
