06 Civic EX A5 and Fujita Intake Fitment problems...
Hi,
I purchased a nice 2006 Civic EX Coupe with the A5 earlier this week and I love it, but anyways I also have one of the newly released Fujita F5 intakes for the 06 Civic but I am running into some fitment problems.
Specifically what is happening is:
1. The upper tube's mount does not reach the vibration damper without pushing hard on the tube putting excessive force on the coupler at the throttle body.
2. There isnt enough room between the fenderwell liner and the frame for the lower tube to fit, and no matter how much adjusting you do, after driving a bit it vibrates and rattles against the frame, which has now caused damage to the tube.
3. The point at where the upper tube and lower tube meet (in the silicone coupler) rubs against metal clips on hoses attached to the automatic transmission. This will eventually lead to damage. If you were to push on the upper tube in order to secure the issue I stated in #1 above, the tubes become firmly planted against these hoses.
4. The hose they supply to replace the heater hose going to the TB is not rubber, and has popped off once, creating a significant mess. I have temporarily resolved this by using the stock 'plenum' which has rubber hose ends and works fine, I don't know why they insist you replace this part anyways.
I have an open dialog with the vendor I purchased this from, they said they will be in touch with Fujita and get back to me.
I am very disappointed because I spent nearly a whole day trying to resolve this, thinking that I just must be doing something wrong, but after calling a couple other mechanically inclined friends over, we verified something just isn't right.
I can just hope I have a 'defect' but I have this feeling I'm going to be wasting another 6 hours in the very near future...
Thoughts?

when you say A5 . . .do you mean you got an AUTOtragic tranny??
that is probably your problem, the intake may just be made for manual tranny only. . . but i'm not sure since you didn't specify that
btw, where did you purchase it? is it CARB legal?

Yes, by A5 I am referring to the 5-speed Automatic. Which is actually quite nice as it keeps the engine in peak rpms through shifts...
I too thought that is the problem, because it looks like if a manual transmission was used, there would be more clearance for everything. However, the documentation from Fujita doesn't specifiy and the vendor said that it fits both the auto and manual.
I purchased from a company called EQCO Enterprises for $274. Its a quality piece, and I've installed a couple of the F5s before in other cars so I was excited to have one for the new Civic...

Did you resolve the issue or is it still not working?
I almost bought the air intake. I want to make sure it works before i buy it.
THanks

Yes I did get it to fit.
Instead of following the directions word for word, I first assembled the two tubes in the car before connecting it to the throttle body, this allowed things to fit much better.
It definately creates more power, you will enjoy it!

how much did you pay and where did you get it?
I tried getting an answer from AEM and Injen and they don't respond. So I guess I have to go with Fujita.

Do you have any pics of the finished job?
And what tubing were you talking about when you said you assembled them inside the car.
Thanks for the info.

Here are some of it installed:
What I mean, was that I assembled the two halves of the tube together in the engine bay prior to making ANY other connections.
