Default Can your axles start making Noise after ACT clutch install??

On my 5th Gen I installed a ACT Clutch....Not a puck but an organic with heavy duty pressure plate and street lite flywheel.

Ever since I did I hear a kinda clank or noise from left or right side at random times.

I've checked everything. Changed suspension and checked every bolt. Checked the ball joints and motor mounts. Everything is OK. But I still get the noise.

Could the Axles be getting worn and making a noise when the car engages??? It's really hard to pin point what it is.

The car has 95k and original axles. Any info would help. Searched and asked around. Just want to get rid of the sound. It drives great and doesn't effect the performance what so ever. Just make noise.

ill bet its the axle on the noisy side. a quick way to check is drive in reverse while turning back and forth, usually the sound gets a lot worse. or you can jack up the front and spin the wheel quickly forward and reverse and see how much play is in the joint without turning the diff at all. i think its usually the inboard joint that goes first

I will try jacking the car up and checking that.

It does usually happen when I back out of my garage and turn the wheel to get out the driveway. Also when it's cold it does it when I first start driving it. And the Kinda stops after it's warmed up. Well not fully, you can hear it all the time it's just not as loud.

Sounds like one of them is bad to me, unless the snap ring is bad and its sliding out of the tranny?

Bump... Im also having this problem with my '93 SI... I was drifting in a parking lot and doing burnouts one day and i snapped an axle clean in two.... I was out of town when it happened so I had to take it to a garage and get it fixed seeing how i didnt have any tools with me.... Since they replaced both front axles I hear a loud pop noise every now and again when i turn... I always notice it more when im in reverse... Could this be the same problem? Also the axles need replaced again and its been about 6-7 months ago since last time... No drifting or burnouts since then either.... Should I replace the axles and see if it goes away or is there something else I should check...

if ur getting noises now, take it back to where you did it and say they messed something up and they have to look at it.

think you probably have a bad motor mount. mine would also make a knocking sound when i would back up or take off suddenly, so you might want to check them, especially the rear one

Well, I replaced the front mount a month ago. And the Rear mount looks good. Also changed the sway bar end links and checked the mounts. Everything is good.

I do have about a 1/2" and inch play when I jacked up the car and checked how much play there was when moving the wheel forward and backwards.

I just can't find it. I've tried for 2 months now. Even the Honda Dealer couldn't pin point it. They loosened and tighted all the bolts....even the axle nut but still there.

I just don't want to buy new axles and that not be the problem.
