Default Part numbers are the same for a SI distributor and a DX? Is that right??

Im working on the the MPFI swap on my 91 Dx hatch. Found a 88 crx at the junkyard and scored every part i need off of it except the Distributor. I was looking at them at my work (autozone) and was just thinking of buying a new one and being done with it. Looking at part numbers i realized that the part number for the distributor for 91 civic 1.5L is the same as a 1.6L. The same part number same exact distributor.... So ok maybe thats a goof or something? But then i looked for a Crx 1.6L and it has the same part number.

So my question is. Is there really a difference in distributors between SI and DX? and what is it? Every guide i read tells me i need a SI dizzy to complete the swap... well WHY do i need one?

Second: Is this some mistake at "the zone" ? Or can i just buy a distributor from them and it will work fine....

Ive asked a few of my friends but they kinda lost too. Anyone clear this up for me

thanks

si distributor has a crank angle sensor whihc the dx doesnt. autozone is wrong if the part numbers are the same. but its not the first time. tb gaskets made for integra fit only d series. i tried to tell them but got pissed off and said im wrong, their right. even though the gasket didnt fit on my integra motor

autozone

well you might be able to use the si distributor on a dx if you dont connect thos crank angle sensor wires.

or maybe you could get the dx to work if you get that sensor on the zc that hooks up to the exhuast cam

The Si and HF distributor can be interchanged, but as was mentioned above, the DX distributor is very much different from the Si distributor.
