Help with Distributor........
I have an 89 CRX Si distributor and the bearing went bad. Is it possible to put the electronics from the Si into an 89 DX housing that has a good bearing? They look the same but I wondered if the parts would mount up and work properly?
I believe that the SI distributor and the DX distributor are different. The SI has multi-point injection and the DX has dual-point injection. I don't think that the DX distributor will properly operate your injectors. Look at the little gear underneath the top gear and you should see the difference (more teeth on the SI gear). You still may be able to use the DX distributor, but you will need to swap more than just the electronics.
I have an 89 DX and the motor was shot so I put a 2000 D16Y7 in it. I am using a 91 CRX Si ecu and I bought the Si distributor from Ebay. The guy sold it to me with a bad bearing
I also got ripped from someone else who sent me a DX ecu when I won and paid for an Si ecu, but I found a replacement for that.
I haven't even had a chance to start the thing because of the distributor issue. I know the difference in the wiring side of the DX vs Si distributor but I was hoping to make use of the DX housing. Do you know what it would take to make it work, or if it would even work at all? Looks like I'm probably gonna have to track down another distributor

I think you could make it work, but it depends on how much mechanical skill you have. You will have to swap all of the hard parts from the SI dist. to the DX dist. Or you could swap the DX shaft and bearing into the SI dist. You will need the gear from the SI dist. on the DX shaft. Getting the gears off the shafts without breaking them is the trick.
