You can not use a B series dizzy on your D, also what head exactly are you using?

 

maybe..take off the old one and put on the new one,see how it lines up you might be able to rig it to fit...

ive personally installed sohc distributors on dohc motors (y8 on b18c) and it works fine,,as long as you dont mind the way it looks.
