Default SOHC Vtec head question...

Well, I just found out about an hour ago that a guy that works for a different company next to me bought an SOHC v-tec head from a very reputable guy around here and his plan was to mate it to his non-vtec crx engine. But he got into a wreck and bought a 92 integra. He doesnt know which engine this head came off of so is there anything I can look for on this head to determine what engine it came off of? He said he'd sell it to me dirt cheap since he has no use for it anymore and I just want to know what it is before I try and mate it onto my y7.

z6 or y8. the only 2 sohc vtec heads you'd want to mini-me your engine with.

yeah, i know that... thats why im asking this. Is there any noticeable differences between the two so I can look at it and say "ok, its a y8" or "ok, its a z6"?

the y8 combustion chamber is a bit more rounder then the z6, teh z6 kinda has curver only on top and bottem of combustion chamber, the sides are straight....
