Default squeeling sound

K I did a search, but nothing is helping. I have this squeeling sound that sounds like it's coming from the drivers side (not positive though). It only happens when I'm going into gear and the clutch is almost all the way out and the RPMs are high enough. I tightened the alternator belt and it seemed to go away but it will still do it sometimes if the RPMs are high enough. I dunno how tight you need the alternator to be, or does it matter if you tighten it with teh motor cold or hot?? It seems to only squeel when the motor gets warm. anyone?

Get a new belt and make sure its adjusted right. I had a High pitch noise once and it was actually coming from a heat shield on the exhaust.

hot or cold i don't think it matters. the tension on the belt needs to be tight with little flex.

Ok well I tightened it as much as I could, it seemed the squeeling stopped for a little but now it's back. When do you know you need to replace the alternator belt?? Do you ever need to replace it?? Jw cause this squeeling is bugging the **** outta me.

Ha mine just did this too! Exactly the same symptoms. Anyway I kept tightening my belt and then one day it snapped while I was driving! I didnt do it crazy tight, it just snapped. Anyways I put a new belt on, exactly the same one and just tightened it nice and snug and sprayed some silicone lube on it. Just a nice fine spray on the inside. I have had absolutely no problems since. I think the sound kept coming back because the belt was too tight and making the bearings in the alternator make a bad sound.

Damn good to know, how much was a new belt, and where did you get the grease ****? I was hoping it was the belt and not my throwout bearing, but yeah I tightened the belt pretty damn tight , I wonder if the belts just ..wear out.

take off the belt and see if your alternator pully turns freely if some of the beeds in the bearing are broken its going to cause tension, if it does turn smoothly then get a new belt its not going to be anythnig over 20 dollars... and if the belt snaps on you then its going to be a much bigger pain... you said you have already tighten it so check the pully and check your belt for cracks
