Problem in high rev? Error code 4, 5, and 6
It starts, and seems to idle fine. Timing seems to be just fine. But when I open it up, I can only get halfway between idle and redline and the car seems as if it's choking out itself. Check engine light is throwing a 4, 5, and 6. However, I'm curious about the pattern of it...
Pattern is as follows...
_-_-_-_-_-_ = 6 short
___-_-_-_-_ = 1 long, 4 short
___-_-_-_-_-_ = 1 long, 5 short
If I'm not mistaken, this means code 6, 4, and 5 (in that order) of which according to helms is...
6 = Engine Coolant Temperature
4 = Crankshaft Position Sensor
5 = MAP Sensor
Curious what the issue might might be. I don't understand why it seems to run fine during low RPMs but choke out when you get about halfway through the powerband. Any guesses?
Thanks in advance...hope you can help me out.
Oh, yeah, engine is a PR4 OBD1 B18A1 put into a 1991 Honda Civic Hatch...yes, it was switched to OBD1, and I'm almost certain the wiring is fine because it ran well for about a week before this issue started occurring...

Reset the ECU...I didn't drive it around, just started it up, revved it til it started choking out again, let it idle for a minute, then cut it off, turned back on...did the same thing, let it idle back out and set a jumper in. It's now giving a code 1. Code 1 means Heated Oxygen Sensor...I doubt it, but is this the cause of the problem, or are we looking at something different? If this is the only problem, why wouldn't a code 1 have shown up when I checked it baout 30 minutes ago?
Reset ECU, again. Ran it up the street in fourth gear for minimum 5 seconds starting at a low RPM (helms says to start at 1300rpms, but I have no tach) and now I have no CEL codes, but it's still losing power about halfway through the power band...
By no CEL codes, I meant that the CEL stays on solid. Upon further research, according to Helms, this means "back-up system engaged" which could mean it's a bad ECU... Any ideas...?
Just recently, as I was driving down the road, a buddy of mine was following, and it sputtered for a minute, then just took off as if there was no problem...I let off and coasted to come back down to speed, hit the gas again, and it sputtered a little the rest of the way home. After getting home, my buddy said he saw a puff of black smoke and then it took off. He claims it to have been black, but it was dark out. Black smoke = gas...so...any guesses?
