89 prelude not starting...help

Default 89 prelude not starting...help

okay its the 89 si prelude, what its doing is not clicking not doing anythign when i turn the key except turn the accesories on ( ie: fan radio wipers) when i jump the starter the car starts... i can also pop start it... so the question is what could it be... when turnign the key all the way to starting position there is nothing


PLEASE some advise..

could it be the ignition swith in the column or what else? and if so what do you think it costs for something like that?

It says when he jumps the starter, not the battery.

I have no experience before '92 Preludes, but sounds like a bad starter/starter solenoid, no?

What is jumping the starter? The starter positive wire is directly connected to the battery...

Yeah, but there's still a mechnical switch in there (I assume) that has to close for it to see power. Just a thought.


EDIT: Lol, I guess it would be better if OP tells us whether he meant he is jumping at the battery or not. I'm probably reading into it too much.

what i meant was directly starting the starter through the battery without switch... i figured it out though...

it was the ignition in the column the portion that when you turn the key to start the engine is broke.. so i installed a push button swtich lol (RED NECK BABY!)

Same thing happened to me. Turned out my alternator was going out.
