OEM Navi or aftermarket navi? (3rd gen TL)
I have a 2006 TL 5AT, right now its got about 14k miles on it. Ive had it for about 8 months now. I wished I would have gotten the navi model but they didn't have it in black at the time and it was $50 more a month. I would and want to trade it in for a navi model but I don't think that'd be a good investment.
Now the question is should I buy an OEM navi system or an aftermarket navigation system? Please let me know the pros and cons for each one and where would be the best place to purchase it. If you guys could help me out and give me some advice, i'd really apprecite it. thanks in advance

If you didn't have an OEM Navi from the factory, you cannot have an OEM installed in your car.
I'm sure there is a WAY to do it, but I would have went with $50 more a month, than to pay the bill is would cost to have an OEM Navi put in (if there's a way)

Putting an OEM NAV system in the car after the fact would cost a fortune unless you have a really good connection for used parts out of a wrecked car or something. It would also be a LOT of work, more than I'd be willing to do anyway.

Not 100% sure, never looked into it. But i've work at an Acura dealership for almost 3 years and that's all i've heard. I'll call honda and find out why though...
^ looks like you might be right.....
I emailed a local Acura dealership and they said this,
"hello, I bought a 2006 Acura TL 5AT from you guys on may of last year, now I wish I would have got a navi model. I was woundering if you could find out how much the complete navi system costs and how much and how long for acura to install it? If you could get back to me on this i'd really appreciate it. thanks"
They said
"Hello,
Sorry, Acura does not offer that as a add on. You would have had to purchased the TL with Navi.
Thanks,
Richard

Looks like OEM navi isn't possiable, I guess i'll have to get aftermarket navi system?

I don't think that'd be a good idea at all. If it where that easy thats what I would have done.

After owning a Navi for over two years now, and knowing a good bit about what is available aftermarket, I would say just go for the aftermarket. I think the factory Nav is fine but it can be a pain to find certain places if you do not know the exact address. Most aftermarket systems have alot more points of interest and a better user interface in my opinion.
Be for warned though, an aftermarket system that replaces the factory stereo requires an adaptor to interface the new stereo into the factory amp which some shops will not know how to correctly implement. Of course you could do a complete replacement of the factory stereo system, i.e. disconnect the factory amp and replace all speakers, which may not be the worst thing in the world you could do. (I also think the factory system is junk, again my opinion).
Good luck.
