Trouble starting cold
Hey, when its cold out (below 25), the engine will crank and fire, but immediatly die. After about 10 tries it will continue to run and once warm no prob at all. Any thoughts on the problem.
Hey, its definitly acting like something is wronge. Last winter it started in 0 deg F without trouble.
Last week it looked into the Haynes Guide and they talk about an EACV valve that gives more air in cold weather, (like a choke). I looked at the way to test it in the manual and it looks really really challenging.
As I said before, the engine will fire each time it turn the key, then imediatly die off like it doesn't have gas or enough air. Once it is warm, no probs.
Thanks

i believe its the iacv, idle air control valve, its right above/behind your throttle body if you are looking toward the firewall. its a cylinder shaped thing, has a vacuum line and a sensor hooked up to it. its 200 bucks from napa...
i need to replace mine, my car does the exact same thing, i just hold the gas for a few seconds and it will not stall out, just idle around 200 rpms until it warms up.

Ok, once my car starts it runs fine. It sounds differient than yours... Also, when the car is running and cold when i disconnect the air tube on the eacv and put my thumb over it, the car wants to stall out. So maybe it isn't the EACV...
Any other thoughts out there...

So I am guessing that the IAT sensor sends the message to the eacv? I think the EACV is working properly... Once the car is running it runs normal. The only problem is getting it to continue to run when I try to start it cold. Cold, it will fire once then die. After like ten tries it will continue to run no probs...
