B18B1 replacement
I'm in the middle of replacing the B18B1 in my '96 teg with a B18B1 from a '95 (easier than replacing the crank that some a-hole had crossthreaded when they had done the timing belt). And if you're curious - I didn't feel like rebuilding, besides; if I do rebuild, I'll be getting some aftermarket slugs, rods, crank, etc which is way more than $800 for a JDM motor. The goal will be putting a turbo later down the road...
Anyway, I was wondering what's the minimum needed to fire up the motor? I was going to see if I could just bolt the motor/tranny in and just hook up water. fuel, and 12v. Honda motors are new to me (this is my first) - I'm a small block chevy guy - but I can't beat the teg for the daily driver with 30 mpg. On the chevy, I could just get the block in, hook up gas and the battery and fire it up briefly before bolting everything else in (and then tune it after it's all put together). Just wasn't sure if I could do that with the Honda motor or not because of all the sensors, etc. Besides, there's a ton more stuff to put back together on the teg than the chevy
Thoughts? Thanks
