water leak
I have an 88 civic dx hatch and have some problems with a water leak in the trunk. Its pretty bad, everytime it rains it soaks my carpeting and leaks down onto my spare. I took the carpet off because it was molding and washed it. I also threw away the wood cover peice because that was extremely and beginning to mold as well. Any suggestions on where the water might be coming from? I believe its the seal on my hatch but I'm not positive. Any help would be great.
hEY! WHUT UP...It's Bernard..
Wish I knew, all i I could think of is the rear hatch seal, but it looked fine to me when I saw it..Anywayz hopefully in this thread will help..Good luck!
Any peepz out there possibly know the problem?.. Any help would be appreciated..

Type in "water leak" and read away. mine was a hatch seal, sunroof drain tubes, and a fluid squirter on my crx. all three made for a messy rear cargo area. seriously, search and read away. you will find a million different things that could be wrong. good luck, and welcome to honda tech. As tippyman says, search before posting, or we will kill you!

Thanks for the input, But we did do a search and like 3 posts came up, but none were related to his particular leak problem!..Unbelievable!....Is there like an archives forum or anything that has the million different could it be things??...
Still have the leak. ANY feedback would be great. I replaced the hatch thinking that it was the seal on the window. It wasn't, and I cant find the spot that its coming from. Its on the right inside the trunk.
The taillight seals are the most common source of leaks in the rear.
To find the exact source of a water leak back there, you should remove all of the rear interior and have someone spray down the exterior of the car with a garden hose (for at least 5 minutes, leaks are not always instantaneous) while you sit inside and look for drips or runs.

By replacing the tail light gaskets, will this fix the problem? I have had that problem with both my crx and now my 4 door civic......my tail lights fill up with water. I'm thinkin' of drilling some holes in the bottom of the tail light so hopefully it will act as a drain for the tail light. Any other suggestions?

You mean the holes for the tail light bulbs and such?

I already looked both the tail lights. There is no visible moisture in either of them. I has to be coming from somewhere else. Any other suggestions?
