CEL says random misfires
So I crunch in my rear end the weekend after expo 6 due to stupidity and I finally get the money to put it in the body shop...
after two weeks of waiting, the car finally is done and I go to pick it up to see the body work nearly perfect and looking fantastic
I go to turn on the car and low and behold the CEL is on
I didn't think much of it as my exhaust system is aftermarket and I was assuming that my high-flow cat would eventually cause the CEL to appear, but as I'm driving the car back, the car feels very underpowered and appears to be misfiring
I go to check the CEL the next day and of course, the code reads random misfires
So I bought the standard parts for a tuneup.. cap, rotor, plugs, wires
the car now feels better but is still misfiring.. now i'm thinking it could be the distributor, injectors, and my buddy suggests it possibily being the valves
any suggestions?
the ran perfect before its hard to believe all of this could have happened out of coincidence

Reset the CEL and I would bet you will not see anymore problems with it. When a car sits anywhere and then is moved a very short distance it will produce radom misfires when restarted.
Clear the code and see if it stays off. Isn,t it time for a new Cap/Rotor/Wires anyway?

i've reset the battery after every step of putting in the new parts (sparks,wires.. etc).. the light reappears everytime
i tried calling you a couple times over the last few days.. kinda don't wanna stop by odon honda after what happened over the summer, but just wanted some advice
im trusting that harl didn't joyride it all.. just doesnt make sense how this could happen out of the blue
I know he did do a full wash on the car and if water is the issue, im hoping it went into the distributor, not the intake and into the cylinders

if he got some water in the intake its not going to misfire, itll run fine unless he sprayed directly in, and youd know if that was the case.
Im betting its water in the distributor. Turn the car off, take the cap off and spray some brake clean in it...ive done this to clean oil/grime out of my dist without ill effects. just wait till it dries(10 min or less).
If its not water in teh dist, it could just be that your gas has gone bad. not likely in 2 weeks, but still a possibility.

Usually it can be a lot of things that can cause misfires. I always check ignition/distrib. parts first... if everything appears fine, then I check valve clearance. If you have never done a valve adj, then you should do one anyway. You would be suprised how often this fixes misfire issues.

you win the prize dood
problem mostly fixed with a new tank of gas and some injector cleaner
power came mostly back, feels way smoother
who woulda thought
its still misfiring a bit but not nearly as much, im guessing the problem will be completely gone after a full intake manifold clean
