Default 96 Spec ITR Wheels

For those of you that have these I have a few questions for you all.

1) Recommendations on tires to get? Probably looking at Summer/Performance tires as we don't get too much snow here in VA and I have 2 spare Alloy sets of Honda wheels haha

2) Will I need spacers to clear the calipers? I've heard whispers of needing spacers to clear them - if I do need them what size? 5,10,15mm?

3) How do you clean them? I've only had alloys so just use cleaner, dunno how to treat these guys?

I think that's all I've got, Just bought a set and I'm incredibly excited to get them installed.

I had a set of ITRs until recently picking up some RPF01s

1) Falken Azenis. My favorite tires by far.

2) If you are using stock brakes, no. If you're using an upgraded system like I am with a Prelude VTEC setup you will need 8MM spacers. It will be VERY close though. Most people cringe when first putting them on, but they WILL clear.

3) I just used a rim cleaner, a scrubbing pad and a lot of elbow grease. One of the reasons I sold my ITRs was because I'm pretty lazy and could hardly ever keep them clean.

You'll love them. I had mine for 2 1/2 years before selling them. They treated me very well. Nice and light rims too.

Awesome so no worries on gettings spacers since I'm 100% stock in the brake department.

Azenis for the tires, haven't had any experience to be honest in regards to performance style tires but I'll definitely check these out.

And yeah, I've got a white car already so I have to keep the rest of it clean so I guess the wheels won't be too bad either.

I'm really excited haha, they next day'd them so they'll be at my house tomorrow afternoon, looks like I'll have to tire shop soon to get stuff ready for the weekend!

Thanks for the help khunt

My pleasure.

I've owned a few sets of performance tires and The Azenis are by far and away the best. They're a pretty penny too though.

Having a white car will definitely make these wheels a great choice. I have that unbearable "old man gold" color. Rims still looked decent though.

Just in case you're wondering, the tire shop will probably recommend a 195/50/15. You can fit a 205/50/15 on if you want to. Not only is it a bit beefier but it also protects the rims from any curb rash.

yeah i actually just put on a fresh *** pair.... i bought them from a kid who painted them red (******* moron even used a rattle can) so i sandblasted them and got them powder coated. bought some brand new center caps and here they are.
but i just went down to a tire shop in tacoma and got 1/4 inch spacers... the clearance is gonna be real close, check it out (oh and yeah i need to repaint my calipers...) oh and i forgot to add, i am running the brakes off an accord wagon with wagon calipers.... 11inch instead of 10 and the caliper is bigger.

Haha, yep I would be that guy, bought them out of ebay over the phone with the guy. I've seen them cheaper in other places but every user I've tried to pick them up from flaked out or just stopped responding.

Gotta pay to play I guess. I think they have 2 other sets but they're more than $400, shoot them an email and give them a call. They do next day shipping

1)depends how much you have, kumho MX is excellent

2)3-5mm spacer in front

3)the trick is to clean then and wax it before it gets dirty.

Not really looking to break the bank on the tires, but I do want to invest in a good set

Would having just a plain metal shop make spacers be fine or does it matter to an extent where buying a kit would be a better?

You can buy a couple spacers from a wheel shop for dirt cheap. I never needed them and I don't understand why others do, but who knows.

Exactly. I had to charge the buyer of my rims around 35$ a wheel.

it's around 80 buck for ground shipping, pretty standard rate.

but again, if you can't get it locally, it not worth that price.

i got mine around 300 something and sold it for more, some dude with an integra brought it without checking the pattern , he added four h&R spacer/bolt pattern changer and it's sticking out like some mexican ghetto rider

sorry to bring up an old thread, but i have a few questions and concerns.

i have a 97 2.2CL same setup as a 5th Gen Accord, and im gonna be buying ITR wheels shortly.

the problem is my car comes stock with 16's and i will be now downgrading to 15's. im dropped on Eilbach sportlines and tokico blues and was wondering how beefy of a tire am i going to need so this looks right??

also how wide are the ITR wheels, will they fit inside the wheel wells right.

as far as i know ill be the first CL to have this done, so of course im gonna have some concerns, but like i said the 5th Gen Accord and 1st Gen CL suspension and powertrain is almost completely identical and interchangable.

can i also get some other advise from 4th-5th Gen Accord ITR wheel owners

thank you

The wheel is 6" wide. You can stuff a 205 tire on that size rim. They will fit in yur wheel wells with no issues.

As for your profile, I'd probably stick with some like a 50 series.

damn 205??

i have 215 on my CL right now, but of course that is a little wider than what came stock.

yea i have 50 now and im tucking a little tire.

also will this lower my car a little bit more.

Yah, most tire shops will recommend that you use a 195 but that's only because the're too lazy to mount a 205 on a 6" wheel which can be a real bitch. I did mine myself and it was a journey that's for sure, haha.
