what is the best possible setup for ls/vtec? one of my friends told me that a b16 head is the best way to go. can i just put a b16 head on a stock ls bottom? i know there is more to it than just throwing a head on a block.

As said above you should search, but yes that is a good combo...a quality ported b16 head would be even better!

 

i have a b16a2 with ctr pistons, toda cams port and pollish and i cant remember what kind of valves springs and retainers i have. but i was thinking to use the complete head and the ctr pistons. can i use the ctr pistons?

it doesnt say anything about ctr pistons. are they the same as itr? but it was a very good write up and i will be using it.

 

ctr pistons are heavy and have a huge dome. your compression is going to be very high with them in a b18 block.

 

so should i use them? any idea where about the compression will be at?

you shouldnt use them. p30's or jdm p73's give a much more reasonable cr and have a much smaller dome.

you can make more power and be safer with less cr and running more ignition timing. rather than having to pull lots of timing with a high cr.
