I wouldn't go any higher than stock the limiter allows. unless you have built the motor accordingly.

Stock GSR red lines at 8000 rpm. I mean I guess it would depend on what kinda chip you are talking about. It could be that the chip is tuned to run different fuel maps and what not. I'm with that other guy on this one though, if you havn't done anything to the motor I wouldn't wanna take it past red line.

My block is stock, but the head is built, with my P28 I redline at 9k. But this is usually only at the track and like I said the head is built. If it's stock, leave it at what honda set it at.

the engine stops making power after 7600 rpms so taking it higher is kinda pointless unlesss if you have built the motor.

the bottom end is safe to rev to 9k all day, the danger is in the valvetrain, the valvetrain on a stock gsr head is not meant the rev past 8400 rpms

theres no point in taking your motor up that high because you WONT MAKE ANY MORE POWER. also if you're not using a program like uberdata, hondata, chrome, neptune, etc for tuning then dont even try it because chipped ecu with programs like skunk2, mugen, etc are outdated and are not tune for your motor so you can eventually harm it even if you dont take it up past redline

My motor is fairly stock.... just intake, skunk2 IM, ctr intake cam, cam gears, header, test pipe, exhaust, custom chipped p28 ecu. Last time I went up to sac raceway, I made a custom map for myself. I set my rev limit at 8400 rpm but I was only planning on taking it to 8100. One of the runs, I spun it up to 8400. Everything was fine but I don't plan on revving it that high ever again until my motor is built to semi built. I also noticed that the ctr intake cam and my motor stopped pulling hard around the 8100 range. So with that said, play it safe and don't rev too high!

Ive taken mine up to just 8200rpms, and just once I missed a gear and over revved it to 9000. I freak out, and pulled over; let the engine idle and everything seemed to be sounding good. But that wont happen again. Oh yea ive got a chipped kenji p28 ecu on a gsr with i/h/e, skunk2 manifold, itr cams, skunk2 cam gears(0,+1), vafc, and a dyi ported tb.

next on my list is get dual valve springs, retainners, new valve guides, new oem valves, clean the head, and throw in a 2 layer headgasket.
