Default Good sub for SQ in electronic music (trance, house, etc.)

Basically what I'm looking for is a single sub that has good sound quality and high fidelity. I don't need or want something that is best at being loud or for showing off. I just want the sub to make the music sound damn good and be loud enough. I also listen to of course "mainstream" music from time to time (r&b, alternative, etc.) and would like it to sound good playing this stuff also.

So what size should I get....10 or 12''? And what brands/models would you recommend. I am not looking to buy the real "high-end" stuff...I just want what is good and will satisfy me without spending a whole lot.

Thanks a ton IA!

My fav. sub in this application is a 12 IDQ from Image Dynamics. Another favorite is the 312RS.2 from a/d/s/. You will probably get a lot of votes for the 12" JL versions....W0, W1, W3, and W6 as well.

I like how my JL Audio 12W6's sound... I listen to Trance, Rap, hip-hop, R&B and Korean pop/rap... and the JL's perform well...

Alpine Type R subs are also very nice..

Ok guys I've decided that I want the Image Dynamics IDQ sub.

I need help deciding:

- Should I get a 10'' instead of 12'' IDQ?
- which IDQ model, 2 or 4 ohm DVC?
- Amp recommendations?? The sub wants 350 rms and 700 peak watts I believe.

Keep in mind, I don't want to spend a whole lot.
